WEB DESIGN
Anyone can tell you whether a website looks good. Almost nobody can tell you whether it works. Design is a conversion decision before it's an aesthetic one. It decides what a stranger sees in the first second, what they understand by the third, and what they are asked to do next. Get those three right and the page earns enquiries. Get them wrong and no amount of polish brings them back.
The grey boxes are the first design decision, made before anyone picks a colour: what a visitor sees first, and what they are asked to do. The finished page is built on that answer. Watch the boxes become the page. Nothing about the layout moves when the colour arrives, because the layout was already right.
WHAT THIS ACTUALLY IS
Deciding what a stranger does in nine seconds.
Design decides what someone sees first, what they understand immediately, and what they're invited to do about it. Palette, imagery and motion serve that or they're decoration.
The most common failure is a site that looks perfectly professional and gives a visitor no reason to act, no idea what happens next, and no confidence that anyone's home. Every element snapping to the grid is what that professionalism is made of, and it still says nothing about whether the page ever asks for the enquiry.
A site can be beautiful and still be quietly losing you work.
A homepage that opens with a stock photo and three vague promises is a design decision too. Nobody chose it. It is what the template shipped with, and it stays because no one asked what should come first. The wireframe is where that question gets asked.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
Seven decisions that determine whether the finished page converts or just exists.
- Structure and page hierarchy before any visual work
- Design to your brand, not a template
- Mobile designed properly, not shrunk
- Accessibility built in rather than retrofitted
- Real content in the design, not lorem ipsum that hides length problems
- A stated performance budget the build has to meet
- Clear calls to action that survive being scrolled past
HOW IT WORKS
Structure, then design, then build, reviewed at each stage so nothing large gets discovered late. Structure is the slow, deliberate part: what the page has to do, for whom, in what order, argued out on a wireframe before a colour is chosen. Design and build follow from it, which is why the finished page holds up under real content and real traffic instead of only in a preview. You see the wireframe before any design comp, and structure is signed off before typography or colour come up. The wireframe is cheap to change and the finished design is not, so the argument happens while it is still free to have.
HONEST NOTE
This site is a BASSKL!P CREATIVE build.
It holds to a stated performance budget on mobile: largest paint under 2.5 seconds, layout that doesn't shift while you read. You can measure it yourself in about thirty seconds, on any page. That's a more useful claim than a portfolio, because you can check it.
